When I moved to Phoenix to report for the ABC affiliate I never expected to stay longer than my contract required.
It was summer.
Walking out the door was like being sucked into a blow dryer. Drivers wrapped towels around steering wheels to keep from burning their hands. And scoring a parking spot under a tree felt like winning the lottery.
But after surviving that first summer several things happened. I got used to not scraping ice off the windshield, met some wonderful people and covered interesting stories.
Now, I'm working on my first mystery novel set in Phoenix.
Guess I'm staying.
